InsureMyTesla

InsureMyTesla is a mileage-based insurance program that is intermediated by Tesla Motors HK Limited and underwritten by Liberty International Insurance Limited, an authorized insurer regulated by the Insurance Authority under the Insurance Ordinance Cap. 41. Mileage records of the vehicle is relevant for obtaining an InsureMyTesla insurance quote and policy. Please note Tesla will share such records with Liberty upon your indication of interest in InsureMyTesla.

Tesla is appointed and registered under the Insurance Ordinance as an licensed insurance agent for Liberty International Insurance Limited (“Liberty Insurance’). Liberty Insurance is an authorized insurer regulated by the Insurance Authority under the Insurance Ordinance. Liberty Insurance underwrites Tesla’s InsureMyTesla program in Hong Kong, offering a mileage-based insurance product specially designed for Tesla owners.

Liberty Insurance has been insuring Tesla motor cars since 2014. In June 2018, Tesla was appointed as Liberty Insurance’s agent.
Presently, Liberty Insurance is the authorised insurer for InsureMyTesla.

One key characteristic of Liberty Insurance’s mileage-based Insurance, as suggested by its name, is that the insurance premium is calculated based on the amount of kilometers you drive, among other factors. Some of the benefits available under this product are also tailored-made for Tesla motor cars only.

First, the mileage bracket each Tesla owner falls into would be considered. The base premium is then adjusted according to the specifics of the Tesla motor car (model and trim, year of manufacture, etc.) and details of the drivers (No Claim Discount (NCD), driver information, driving experience, etc.).

If your Tesla motor car was new when you purchased it and this is the first insurance policy you are purchasing for this Tesla motor car, no mileage information is needed.
If the Tesla motor car was purchased as used or you are renewing your existing insurance policy, you will need to provide Liberty Insurance with the current mileage and date of first registration.

Depending on the type of coverage you have purchased or renewed, you may apply for policy termination by giving written notice to Liberty Insurance.
